Serov (Sverdlovsk region)
Ferroalloys preparation division was put into operation at the Metallurgical plant n\a A.K. Serov (UMMC ferrous metallurgy industry). Now 100% of ferroalloys for the whole volume of steel production can be prepared at the plant.
According to Alexander Rudyshin, preproduction supervisor, up to date only 60% or required ferroalloys were prepared by the plant. New ferroalloys preparation division capacity will exceed three times as much operating crushing equipment performance and fully provide electric furnace steelmaking division with alloying materials. “Up to 60 tons of ferroalloys per day can be processed at this area, but for now it operates for the plant needs”, Alexander Rudyshin said.
“Financially the new division enables saving up to 1 million rubles every month due to the possibility to buy ferroalloys at lower cost and bring to required performances directly at the plant”, said Andrey Solyanikov, technical director of OOO “UMMC-Steel”. “Besides, control over fraction and quality leads to expensive alloying materials saving, and steel quality will be increased due to ferroalloys dehydration”. 49 million rubles were invested into launching of this new division. A jaw crusher, a screen and a drying drum, all of them having software control, were purchased for ferroalloys preparation division. Nine trained employees maintain operation of this division.
